ABOUT SKATE CHURCH MOVEMENT
Worldwide there are over 9,600 public skateparks, 3,000 that are right here in the United States. In North America alone there are over 400,000 evangelical churches. Our prayer is that we can inspire a movement where Christians globally who have a love for Jesus and a passion for skateboarding will recognize the opportunity that exists right in their backyard.
This is the Skate Church Movement.
A CALL TO MOVEMENT
The call to make disciples is a direct command found in scripture. From the moment that Jesus’ identity is revealed, He begins to call others to follow Him. If He is who he says He is, what does it mean to follow Him and what does it look like to call others to do the same? Being a disciple of Jesus Christ means setting a new priority, finding a new identity, and calling/leading others to do the same. The prayer for this vision is to inform and inspire a new generation of disciple making.
A REPLICABLE MODEL
There are thousands of skateparks around the world with little to no Christian influence at them. Or really very little positive influence at the skateparks at all for that matter. We believe the model for Skate Church is easily replicable at skateparks globally. The goal will be to share the story, history, and concept for “Skate Church” while also addressing the Biblical call to make disciples and providing resources for leaders that will make it easy to replicate at any skatepark, anywhere.
One of the main objectives with this project was to find a way to create unity through a collaborative effort so that this resource could be used and “owned” by any organization or ministry. Through the website, resources, and materials created you’ll find total ambiguity. No branding, logos, credits, or contact information. Our hope is that organizations, churches, and leaders worldwide will use, share, promote, and leverage this campaign for ministry.
